in 1903, Luigi Bezzera invented Espresso? Luigi had an idea to introduce pressure to the coffee brewing process, reducing the time needed to brew a good coffee. He called his new machine the "Fast Coffee Machine". Hence, espresso means "fast" in Italian. He patented the process and started manufacturing espresso machines. Sadly, as his marketing efforts were unsuccessful, he became penniless and desperate. Then in 1905, Luigi sold his espresso patent to Desidero Pavoni for about Lira 10,000! |
